This game is known for consuming a significant amount of players' time due to its highly engaging gameplay, particularly for those with an interest in blocky graphics like myself. While it is labeled as a survival game, it primarily revolves around killing monsters. Players must defeat all the monsters on each level to progress. Upon completion, they receive premium items and gold based on their performance, which can be used to acquire better weapons. Without these weapons, players may find themselves unable to advance past difficult levels.
Similar to its roguelike counterparts, this game effectively captures players' attention by offering a thrilling experience with each level played. The game gradually increases in difficulty, with randomly generated appearances of zombies adding an element of surprise. Players must confront unexpected challenges without warning, leading to unforeseen difficulties. This aspect of the game may catch players off guard, as it proves to be more challenging than initially anticipated. For instance, players could find themselves moments after defeating a group of zombies, only to be unexpectedly attacked by a fast-moving zombie, resulting in a sudden demise.
In addition to sending our character out to eliminate as many zombies as they can and earn gold, players also have the option to construct a sturdy fortress. This is intended to provide a refuge for players during waves of zombie attacks, allowing them to relax while defending themselves. Building a base can involve erecting tall towers that automatically target and eliminate enemies, or constructing a robust thorn fence to allow players to engage in combat directly. This feature aims to offer players an immersive gaming experience.
One aspect that I find particularly intriguing is that very few games offer the sandbox mode provided by this game. In this mode, players are immersed in a world where they have complete freedom to build anything. There are no restrictions on our creativity; we can construct any type of fortress and even orchestrate zombie attacks. These attacks are not haphazard; instead, we have control over the types of zombies and their behaviors.
The game's graphics speak for themselves. It draws on old Pixel games for inspiration but adds in modern elements like zombies and guns. The action caught my eye right away when I first saw the gameplay. While I hadn't played the game before, it inspired me to write this article. Ultimately, whether someone likes this game will come down to personal preference. Some, like me, may appreciate pixel games while others may prefer 3D games over what they consider to be more childish options.
